Noel's Houseparty
Back in November 1998
Drakelow was chosen as one of the locations for Noel's NTV feature.
In this section of the program selected ' victims ' were sent away to
an ' isolation environment '
to spend a week or so away from their loved ones as a punishment for
some misdemeanor of theirs.
In our case the victim was 'Trish' from Northampton, who was nominated
for being accident prone
and was sentenced to spend at least one week locked underground.

Mick Earle from Wild Track escorts
Trish and her belongings to the women's dormitory, the area
we suggested was best for their camp.
Believe it or believe it not,
but Trish really did spend a week underground. One or two visitors
were allowed including our team and her family , but she was
not allowed to go outside.

The NTV camp in the women's dormitory. As
you can imagine it would not be safe for someone to stay alone
down here for a week, so in addition to the camera crew a
safety crew from Wild Track was also present.

They set up a camp kitchen in
the tunnel linking the male and female dormitories to prepare
drinks and meals.
For the duration of their stay
they had to rely on their caving lamps and hurricane lamps for
light as the bunker was not powered up. They cooked with camping
gas.

Trish tries the coffee machine
in the 1980's canteen, unfortunately it's empty and cold. (rather
like the tunnels really).

bit of cleaning in the operating theatre.
