Guided Tours Sorry, but we are no loner running them "Just a quick note to say how much everybody enjoyed the tour
yesterday evening. The viewing of the complex was fascinating in it's
own right but I have to say that you really added to the experience
with the quality, depth and enthusiasm of your commentary. I am sure
that I speak for the whole party in wishing you and your colleagues
every success in your endeavours to preserve' Drakelow ' for posterity." "A very BIG thank you for the extremely interesting and unique
visit yesterday to the Drakelow facilities - what an incredible place!
It would make a fantastic Museum and pay tribute to all those who were
involved in it's creation and bear testament to the British spirit and
ingenuity. Well done to you all! Many thanks" "We all so enjoyed the visit and many members have rung to
ask me to pass on their thanks for such an interesting afternoon. Your
guides were terrific, giving lots of information and anecdotes - it
really is an art. I do thank you on behalf of the group and add my personal
appreciation......Be in no doubt that I shall spread the word that Drakelow
Tunnels are a must on anyone's calendar of social events." "On behalf of the members of Stourport-on-Severn Civic Society
I would like to thank you and your fellow volunteers for making the
visit to Drakelow Tunnels a very memorable and interesting occasion" "Just a short note and to say thanks again for a really excellent
tour yesterday. Your knowledge of the site is just first class and it
was thoroughly worth 4hrs in the car to make the trip." "Just a quick note to say thank you very much for your time
when we visited Drakelow on the 20th October this year. We found it
very interesting, a very enjoyable tour, I have always wondered about
those entrances when we drove by many years ago." "Just a quick note to say thanks very much for giving your
time last night for the guided tour, we both thought it was superb!
Hope to see you again soon." "Just to let you know how much my party enjoyed the evening,
it certainly was a very unusual birthday outing for my son and his friends.
Many thanks to yourself and your fellow tour guides." "Just a quick note to Thank You very much for the wonderful
tour we attended at Drakelow on Wednesday 23rd March. It was amazing
we will spread the word to others! Ian was our guide and he was very
informative and funny! Will hopefully do it again! Thanks again for
the wonderful job you do!" "Just a quick note to say thank you for the time and trouble
you went to make the tour of Drakelow Last Wednesday evening a very
enjoyable experience. The three of us enjoyed the trip enormously. Please
would you pass on my thanks to Ian, our tour guide, whose knowledge
Of the site added so much value to the visit." "I would like to thank you and your colleagues for the very
detailed , informative and enthusiatic tour of the tunnels which both
myself and my group of friends thoroughly enjoyed. Please keep up the
good work." "Just to say a very big thank you to you and your team for
an excellent and very informative tour around the Drakelow site on Wed
9- Nov. Everyone in my party thourghly enjoyed it. We all commented
that, if only someone would come up with funding to help you support
the tunnels, hopefully one day this may be true. Once again many thanks
for the visit it was excellent." "I just wanted to write to thank you for the wonderful experience
at Drakelow last night. The tour was excellent, It allowed visitors
to really get a feel for what it was like in the three periods when
they were in use. Ian our guide was very informative and knew the answer
to any of the very many questions that our group had. I would reccomend
the tour to anyone, and wish you the best of luck for securing funding
etc for the future use of the tunnels for tours and a museum. Thanks
again and well done to your team for the excellent work that you do." "Having been on the tour last night, I would just like to thank
you for a most excellent evening. We thoroughly enjoyed every minute!
Your little talk at the beginning was very interesting and Ian, our
guide, was brilliant. Although I knew a little about the tunnels I had
no idea how much more there was to know and just how vast the whole
place was. I bought your book which I am looking forward to reading
and would dearly love to tour again in the future before the place rots
away. It is so sad to see it all eroding and must be quite painful for
those of you who care so much. Anyway, thanks again for a great evening."
"Hi paul, just wanted to say thanks for the tour round the
bunker the other week, I really didn't know what to expect when I booked
up; perhaps a "small hole" in the ground but after the tour I was amazed
at the size of the place!! I have a "morbid" fascination with tunnels
and the such like and you have given me my latest fix !! all I can say
is that you do a fantastic job of running the tours and the dedication
of you and your team is something you should be proud of and praised
on for your enthusiasm for preserving part of our nations heritage,
keep up the good work and hopefully soon you can make something more
of what is a fantastic trip back in to memory lane, just a shame the
lottery can't help you any more!! please keep me updated on any new
progress." "I felt compelled to email you and thank you for the tour last
night. I found the tour absolutely fascinating and your enthusiasm for
the project is amazing and so noticable. I also admired your massive
knowledge of the tunnels and all associated information. I really can't
thank you enough. A night I will always remember." "Thank you so much for last night's excellent tour, it was
interesting, informative and 'eye opening'. My friends all thoroughly
enjoyed it. I look forward with anticipation to reading your book." "I've just returned from a short break so this has been the
first opportunity to drop you a note, just to say thanks to you and
the guys for making the tour on the 28th thoroughly enjoyable. It's
heartwarming to see the dedication you put into this worthy project
and it was immensely interesting to all three generations in our party.
My lad couldn't wait to get to school and tell his mates about it, and
for my father-in-law it was a stark reminder of his wartime childhood
years, and later his role in the ambulance service during the cold war
as one of the guys who'd have had to deal with the real horrors the
4-minute warning pressaged. For my part I found the event absorbing
and for all this to have happened only a few short miles from home is
a sobering thought. As impressive as the complex itself is the weight
of subject knowledge your group holds - it's quite apparently a labour
of love. I'll be sure to recommend the experience to others and I hope
and trust that you are successful in keeping Drakelow Tunnels alive." And from 28 Days Later : Re : 30th Sept 2009 http://www.28dayslater.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=43638
